The acting is crap. The storyline is all over the place and the song is average.

There may be some abstract meaning to this video, it may be sattire, collecting up all the American consumerist stereotypic ideals, but then again it could just be another piece of Illuminati propaganda. There's so much brainwashing brainwashed flashy plastic crap in this I don't know where to begin.

Just to clear things up, I still love Beyonce."

And then someone got at me about what this video is supposed to represent. Well...

"But how could she try to say something intelligent about the state of America and then flash her vagina on screen? And then prance about in a bikini?

I'm sorry but there's an element of hypocrisy in this.

And no, I don't think it's supposed to be a Hollywood film. The acting is crap in this, it's true. If you can't act then don't make your music video into a 9 minute epic."

I'm so tired of this plastic souped up high-budget consumerist anti-consumerist illuminati superficial anti-music pop culture BS. Most music videos are getting banned. I was pissed, but then YouTube/whoever's forcing YouTube to do this had to step over the line and get up in my face.

OH HELL NO.

I made a video review of the film I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, and it was too big, so I split it over 2 parts. Now this was well over 2 years ago. It contained a couple of clips from the movie that I used to demonstrate what parts of the movie I was talking about. However most if not all of these clips are in Part 2.

I go on YouTube today, and PART 1 is BANNED. I get a Copyright complaint from Sony Pictures whatever to tell me to take the damn video down. I am like:

"WHUT BITCH?"

No, no, no. This tomfoolery has gone too far. I cannot make a simple movie review any more? I can't show clips of a movie any more?

THIS IS THE INTERNET, YOU ARSECHEESES. PENNY-PINCHING AND TAKING THINGS AWAY FROM THE LITTLE GUYS WHO WEREN'T EVEN DOING ANYTHING ILLEGAL ISN'T GOING TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOSSES YOU MAKE THROUGH THE BIG UNDERGROUND SONG-WHORING! Well, basically, that's it.

No, I'm not talking about the end of this blog, though nobody reads it so it doesn't really matter, but the end of my school life.

Yes, believe it or not, I'm in the process of taking my GCSEs, and after that, I'm on holiday. Which is awesome. However, after that holiday, I will no longer be in High School. I will be in a Sixth Form Boarding College in Canterbury, 2 hours from where I currently reside.

I really like the school I go to now, I've settled in nicely, I have awesome friends, and the people in my year are cosy people. When I go to school I feel warm inside. That's helped by the fact that it's a girl school, so everyone's a bit more relaxed, and not trying to impress or whatever, and it's very hen-like. I'm going to miss the people and the atmosphere SO MUCH.

And this new school is odd. It's mixed. It's boarding. No one there seems to be quite crazy enough for me. But whatever. I'm not gonna worry, because then the day before I move out I'll probably throw up.

It's the end of an era.

I was looking through my old notebook, and I found a little rant I did about 2 years ago, when I just started in Year 10. I was pretty sour because our classes were mixed up, and I really like my old class. I now see that the change I'm about to go through trumps that one easily.

ROLL TAPE

"Why Year 10 SUCKS

Don't lie. It's not just another year and you know that.

I'm so unsettled and uncomfortable with where my life is, and it's all because of school. There's still pressure, and there's still an element of hint-dropping and name-dropping, but it's much worse now because I'm out of my comfort zone.

I've never shook in an English lesson before. Never. I've never felt like someone was watching me, to the point of it making me uneasy and fidgety, just to look around and realise no one actually is.

And yet, for these part two days, I've been doing and feeling these things non-stop.

I can't lie to myself any more. My cynicism eats all of my reassurance until all I'm left with is 'reality'. My class has been mixed up. Maybe I'm ungrateful, but even though all 3 of my best friends are in my class, I feel upset. Every time I hear a song by The Kooks or by any other band that I listened to avidly in Year 8 or Year 9, I tingle. I feel a nostalgic twinge, and for a short period of time, I think about 9Iiii (my old class), the End of Year 9 video especially. I encounter 2 emotions, 1, happiness for the times that were and 2, sadness for the times that are. My dimly lit world seems that much darker now. My showers seem infinitely colder, and I have to turn the heat knob to its maximum to make it hot enough, which after a few seconds feels like cold water any way. The classroom I used to have is only two doors down, and looks warmer and a lot less drab than my current one. The first day back, for me, wasn't how first days back should be at all. It felt like the greetings I gave people were sadder, and focussed more on how much I misses them than on how their holiday was. And then every teacher that walked in and taught us seemed immersed in silence, as if we weren't really excited to be in the classes we're in.

My creativity is being affected by this as well. My short bursts of inspiration are much shorter now, and I'm considering abandoning projects that I'd barely started planning. The homework is partly to blame, as it's piled high, and takes too long. On the second day back I had already had 4-5 subjects which beat the hell out of what I thought was going to be a relaxed evening.

In a nutshell, Year 10 SUCKS.

Whoa, emo, melodramatic and totally making a mountain out of a molehill. I wasn't that sad then. I enjoyed Year 10 by 2nd term.

Well whatever, I just thought it was fitting that I found a rant on missing the old times...

New beginnings, though.

PokeyStix is out.

----------------
Now playing: Kelis - Game Show
via FoxyTunes

Arrogance

Hm. Arrogance. Well, first off, a little confidence goes a long way. We all know that. But obviously when someone goes overboard, you lose friends. Or sometimes, gain them. It's sad.

It's even sadder that The Popular Life is an actual book. No seriously. I could cry.

You can buy it. This guy is teaching you how to be an ingenuous, manipulative arsehole. You can actually buy this book. "I'm Popular. You're Not." is the title of this page. He then proceeds to spout self-centred arrogant prattlings, in the hope that someone insecure enough to believe the stuff he's going on about will suddenly become interested, and pay the $30 for his crap.

I'm sorry, but read some of the stuff he writes. Read it.

His strategies include:

- how to alter the backbone of your personality, which governs how you think and behave, to automatically act in a socially superior manner i.e. how to look like a self-absorbed ego-sponge.
-how to psychologically train your mind so you naturally become an extrovert LOL

I tell you who this book is for, it's for people who are awkward, have self-esteem issues and want to have more fun.

WHICH IS EVERYONE.

"I’m the one who's out having a good time while you sit around thinking about ‘how great your future will be’" Is what this writer says. No. You're not. What you've done is phleefed* about with peoples emotions, and manipulated them using psychology and psycho-analysis, so that you can get them to do what you want. It sounds like you don't want friends at all, but power. That's sad. You're treating humans like robots, and all you're doing is pressing the right buttons.

Let me explain, O writer of this filth, exactly why this fails. See, I, unlike you, ACTUALLY HAVE FRIENDS. I am a NATURALLY extrovert person, and I did not need a stupid-ass book to tell me how to interact with people. I talk to them, I listen to them, and I have fun. I get invited to parties by those who I have fun with. Nothing more, nothing less.

You, think, O writer, that just because you studied human psychology, that you can read people like a book, and mess them around. You think that by treating humans like little Rubik's cubes, that that makes you suddenly superior, and successful. No. Humans are not dumb. The only TRUE way to win people over in the way you suggest is to be BORN EXTROVERT. Every human was born with certain personality traits, and let me tell you right now it is not worth training yourself to be someone who, fundamentally YOU ARE NOT.

People who feel they must buy this book, I'm sorry. You may be insecure, curious or just bored. I don't know. Go buy it then, I'm in no position to judge you for it. But just listen to this, perhaps you don't need some cocky arse-cheese to tell you how to get friends. You can only TRULY learn how to interact with humans properly by INTERACTING WITH HUMANS. If you have trouble making friends, this book will just make you an arrogant loser. Trust me, I've met people like that before, and let me tell you they're about as likeable as an 18 wheeler truck travelling at 60mph coming in your direction.

Be yourself. Your character may get bruised and toyed around with, but you'll come out tougher, and BETTER AT DEALING WITH PEOPLE.

One rule for getting on with people, just don't be a COCKerel, like this guy here.

Just getting that straight.

----------------
Now playing: AC/DC - Back in Black
via FoxyTunes

*phleef
v.phleefed,phleef-ing,phleefs
- To mess something up, or around.
- Another word for f***, often used as an intensifier.
n.
- A total idiot and/or arse.

Dammit, Sheezyart

Mood: Pretty annoyed
Achievement Status: 8.1/10 (I feel I have achieved a lot today! I exaggerate too much.

I found this flash by 20thcore (a pretty talented artist); it's a screen capture of him scrolling through some comments on an Eddsworld parody by Breadfruit. The comments on this page are like: "lol" or "that's not very nice" or "finally". Now, I'm glad that the people with a conscience are nice enough to point out how unfair Breadfruit was and is being, but it just pisses me off how jerky some people can be on the internet.

Now this parody was about how little effort Eddsworld puts in certain pieces of work, and yet he still gets frontpage'd and lots of popularity. That's true to a certain extent, as, naturally, most artists will upload little pieces of work, and bigger pieces of work. Anyone with half a brain will know that artists have larger projects that they put a lot of work into and want a lot of people to see, and little doodley things that they uploaded just for fun.

The fact that people find it hard to get over is that Eddsworld gets a lot more attention than others for the work he does. These people don't understand why. That's fine. That is absolutely fine. But just because you don't get it doesn't mean you have to be SO DAMN OUT OF ORDER ABOUT IT. We don't need a frickin' song and dance and flash parody. WE DO NOT. This makes drama, and there are trolls here that will feed off that drama. That drama is LIKE CRACK TO THOSE TROLLS!

Now, Edd-hater. You may hate Eddsworld for his 'over-popularity', but he doesn't hate you. He doesn't publicly hate on anyone, he doesn't bribe anyone (to my knowledge), and he sure as hell doesn't use his fans to fight his wars for him. *COUGH*KayFed*COUGH*

So why the hell are you waging a war on someone who actually has nothing to do with it? It's the fanbase you don't like, so why the hell are you poking fun at him. It's not his fault.

NOTE: This is the point where I apologise to all the normal readers out there who feel a little bit offended for being implied to be apart of the same crowd as these trolls. Sorry. You're much smarter than these people.

Look. Eddsworld's style is a little shaky. (Mine's worse, lol). He's improving. You can tell he puts proper effort into his shorts. (LOL) I mean short flash cartoons. The reason why he's so popular is because his flashes have a certain charm that appeals to some people, but not others. They're funny. They're not Family Guy funny, but they're good for flashes. People like that.

And if for a second you think that the SheezyCast/Admins/Mods have anything to do with his 'insta-frontpaging'... you're right. The ones that like his flashes, rate them positively, just like everyone else.

Other amazing artists get overlooked, because the standard is A LOT higher for other genres like music and drawing. (not literature [on Sheezyart] but that's beside the point) Also, because of the charm, like I said before. Don't get me wrong, there are some AMAZING flashes on sheezy that run rings around Eddsworld's stuff. And unfortunately, they get overlooked from time to time. It sucks. I've been there. I am there (not the amazing bit, mind you). But the one thing you'll never catch me or anyone else who gets it doing, is moaning about it. Because that's the way of the world. You just have to accept it and move on with your life.

Instead of making another damn excuse as to why your work isn't making it. I have no respect for those kind of people.

*deep breath*

Right.

I'm out.

Pathologic

Lol Rocky Horror Picture Show!

Friday night, got back a few hours ago from my mate JC, and we played the game Pathologic., a Russian award-winning game, that failed overseas because it's more of an experience than a game.

And I must warn you, both JC and I are unable to play this game alone, because it's so stressful, and just downright scary. The graphics are quite bad, though okay for a 2000 game. The translation is alright with a few blips here and there, but just the air around it is... well... creepy. The bad graphics add to the scariness. The game itself is punishingly realistic (no health boxes, as the days pass more of your friends die, and the multiple objectives make it hard for you to sort out your priorities).

The Executors are people dressed up as ravens. Who themselves are wearing long dark brown cloaks. And the beaks are long, and the eyes are slitty and orange. They are petrifying, and they nod at you sometimes. Everytime you see them, it means another one of your friends have died.

And I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of the epic that is Pathologic, and again, it's not much of a game, but a hell of an experience. If you can muster up the courage to bear the gruellingly slow pace of it all, and the bad graphics, and the sullen, depressing mood, then sure. Play it. When you're done, you will wonder what the hell you just saw unravel in front of your eyes, and if you had just wasted 40 hours of your life.

The answer is probably yes. But they were well wasted. Because this game is AN EXPERIENCE. Just, wow.

Read the article I linked to if you like. Read parts 2 and 3 if you must. But if you end up buying the game don't come crying to me when you don't know how to deal with what you've just seen. Because it's genius.

Genius.

Musing 2: A Backlog

I didn't grow up in an Evangelical Church, in fact I grew up in different churches... so I don't know everything about Evangelical churches.. but I've heard people talking in tongues enough to know what it sounds like. And just today, as I sat in Willesden Evangelical Church, listening to a rather loud and vigorous sermon, something dawned on me.

Did people speak in tongues in the time of the Puritans?

I mean, some people must have... if tongues existed in the days of the Bible, then it must've existed then too.

Which brings me to my other hang-up; were people falsely accused of being witches because they spoke in tongues?

The Puritans, if I remember persecuted those who were suspected of witchcraft, who's to say those who spoke in tongues weren't burned at the stake as well?

Or maybe the Puritans and Catholics knew what tongues were, and identified them as something godly.

Just thinking.

----------------
Now playing: Goldfrapp - Beautiful
via FoxyTunes

IDC about what you have to say!

IDC = I don't care. New abbreviation!

What I really don't like that's starting to come about right now, is the whole IDC about your subtle advice attitude that some users on Sheezyart have.

I know Sheezy isn't exactly the home of all great literature, nor is it the Shangri-La for all proficient authors, but that doesn't mean that it should be filled with people who think ASCII is a form of literature, or people who attempt to write a love sonnet in text speak.

And d'you know the worst thing? DO YOU KNOW the worst thing? When you comment on some of these authors' art, and tell them subtly about practice and leaning away from fan-fiction, they don't pay attention! They act as if you're just there for show, and don't really have anything to say!

An example? Upon reading a certain story (No specific targeting here, sir!), I felt the need to fill the gaps in quality of the piece by leaving some constructive criticism. The poster of this story, shortly after my comment, leaves a reply saying "Hey if u don't like it dont read lol".

Please spare me the egotistical drivel. If you feel you don't have space for improvement, even when it's handed to you on a plate with some mint leaves on the side, then maybe you should send your works to a publisher, have then wipe their rumps with it and inform you of it afterwards.

Or worse, have the publishers give you back the crap you handed them and listen to them say: "TL:DR", or "We didnt like so we didnt read lol" A taste of your own medicine.

Then you get the people who wouldn't know grammar if it made a Death Note pie and shoved it in their face, and who clearly type with their eyes closed. Ordinarily I wouldn't have a problem with them, but when one of the IDC ones write a story which I comment on (with constructive criticism, as always) they seem so insulted. It's as if they feel they have the right to defend their clearly illegible leet-speak gibberish! Some of them even act as if I'm a hater.

(OT: At this point, I would like to say, that I am one of those people on Sheezyart who actually DO know how to constructively criticise people without saying "YOUR ART IS FULL OF FAIL". I know what I'm talking about here.)

Now there are the nice ones who acknowledge their problem and take your crits with a :)! Nice people! Nice... but the others have to go and ruin that.

Don't think that these type of people only exist in the art field of writing, either. You get graphical artists who draw Naruto so many times that they can't draw anything else, you get Flash artists who insist on using crudsy shape tweens, and idiots who spend most of their time making flaming journals about SheezyCast (cough, cough)

For this week, let's try and rid ourselves of that IDC attitude, shall we? Make the world a happy place, with dancing snakes, and a self-repairing ozone layer, with dog-business that puts ITSELF in the bin.

PokeyStix is, uh... out.

----------------
Now playing: Reverend and the Makers - Bandits
via FoxyTunes

*gasp* Galipoka's account! Suspended!

*dies*

Yes, Galipoka, one of my favourite YouTube Directors, has had his YouTube account suspended. I don't know when it happened, I'm taking it happened recently, because the other month I was watching some of his vids of awesome-ness. Lots of V-Loggers have been uploading video, documenting their distaste and anger on this topic, especially as Galipoka never uploaded anything that violated the rules. These /v/tards (lol I'm gonna use that for practically everything now) are all saying that he was suspended for being under-age. As far as I know, the boy was 11, but it didn't impair his brilliant sense of humour.

God, this sounds like a eulogy.

And now these same /v/tards are accusing YouTube of being discriminative. Well, I don't know where to stand there. Though it does sound silly, suspending someone's account, therefore debilitating (gr?) their ability to share videos on an extremely popular site just because of their age. What's the worst that could happen with an under-aged person? What exactly is under-aged for YouTube?

In fact, thinking about it now, more people just watch things on YouTube without an account, which means suspending/banning "under-aged" people to stop them from seeing unsuitable videos is pointless. Plus most unsuitable videos are only accessible by those with an account which is over 18.

So why ban/suspend "under-aged" YouTubers? To stop them from uploading crap? Isn't that a sweeping generalisation?

And one /v/tard is accusing YouTube to have changed since it had been bought by Google. Industrialised with no community is a phrase (paraphrased by some) that I've heard thrown around... and you know what? I kinda sorta agree.

PLEASEDONTFLAMEMEPLEASEGOOGLEIMSORRYFORDISOBEYINGTHECENSORSHIPCODEPLEASEDONTCENSORTHISFORME.

:(

EDIT: Apparently Galipoka was apart of this YoungTuber Club thing. I looked up the Wikipedia on 4chan, just to get the specifics on it, and on the surface, it seems alright. But then you look under the controversy sub-heading, and you see that all these random /b/ and /r/ areas were blocked in Britain. Why? Sounds suspicious... I looked a little lower and such, and apparently, there are NO RULES for these Sub-sections. Bar the law-abiding ones. Which means, yaoi, yuri, porn in general, disturbing goatse, anything. Anything can happen on 4chan. I warn you guys... anything. And the whole Hal Turner thing? The whole swarm of /b/tards attacking Hal was, uh... a bit like a similar attack I saw being made on a pet lovers site... I think that attack was being carried out from the Weebl and Bob forum, though I can't be sure... maybe it was the Weebls Stuff forum... whatever.

YTMND. What a frickin' waste of space, huh? I mean, c'mon, how did this trend originate? Some animated .jpg/.bmp with Sean Connery saying some dumb phrase... sounds like a waste of space to me. But I'm not for a second dissing the pile o' pension hotness that is Sean Connery. Not for a second. Just... "You're the man now, dog." I never got it. I always thought the whole concept was stupid.

And then there are my projects. I have thousands of different projects on my mind right now, and for each and every one of them, there is a different problem, which blocks my creative output right now. I'm gonna pick one project and force myself to finish it 'cos otherwise I'm gonna spend this whole holiday sulking.

END!

Musing 1

Well.. expect a lot of rambling in today's blog... I'm a little tired, so my crud censor bar is a little lower than usual.

On Sunday (a couple days ago), my parents were out. I was 'babysat' by my brother's au pair, though all she really needed to do was give Vincent (my brother) a bath (He's 5) and put him to bed. So it was more like I was home alone, later on in the night. While Vince was still awake, I watched the Brady Bunch Movie. It danced between funny and downright cheesy, but whatever, I'm not here to talk about the Brady Bunch Movie.

That night, it was puking with rain.

Everyone was upstairs, Vincent, the au-pair.. I was by myself. Wikipedia searchings could've absorbed my whole night, but I pulled myself from the PC, switched on the living room lights and - *flicker* one of them flashed, then they all went out. I've had this problem with the lights for a while now... flickering and crud. With the living room lights came the kitchen and utility room lights, until practically the whole of the lower storey of the house was light-less. I was lucky the rest of the downstairs lights didn't flash out (the hall light was still on). So, I went into the playroom, got the mobile phone, switched on the pathetically weak built-in torch, and proceeded to look for an actual torch in the pitch black kitchen. See, at that point I was ever so slightly scared.

I found one, with flat batteries... then another one... with equally flat batteries. I thought, in a real blackout, I be thief-food by now. I found batteries, after some long ruffling around in the draws, used them to flick the power back on for the downstairs light from the garage.. then settled down to watch some Afro Samurai (and this is the part were things actually become a little more relevant) and pondered.

Why are black people so rare in anime (westernised anime too)?

Why are minorities so rare in anime? (Wait a bit, it becomes a lil' more general still)

Why are there so many stereotypes in cartoons? (especially minorities)

(and no, I don't usually go on and on about racism and stereotypes all the time, I just encountered a lot of them this month)

I mean, think about it. Afro Samurai. A black dude with a stereotyped American accent, complete with a hip-hop-ish theme tune.

Another example? American Dragon: Jake Long. Chinese guy. Involved with dragons and ancient Chinese folklore. Have I seen anything that differs from this? Wendy Wu, Jackie Chan Adventures... the list goes on.. all stereotypes. Even Samurai Jack, which I think is absolutely too cool.

And an Asian cartoon character? (I'm British, so when I say Asian here it means Pakistani/Indian) ULTRA SUPER RARE!

Fair?

Mmm... ponder on that. While you're at it, (If you're British) ponder on why about 60-70% of TV shows in Britain are American. And the stereotypes in our mind come from what we see on TV, which the stereotypers have used as a method to spread these thoughts subconsciously. I'm not saying that TV shows are being made to spread stereotypes, I'm just saying that that's what some TV programs are doing anyways. It's wrong and really annoying.

Should-bes

1. No cartoon, be it anime or otherwise should be stereotyped as I'm sure I'm not the only one who's sick of it.

2. Britain as a whole needs some more quality representatives in the Arts and media. At least on British TV.

3. Jake Long:American Dragon needs to be canceled and the script-writers slapped. I'm seeing so many stereotypes when I watch it, it makes me lose faith in the world.

That's it.

Spiderman 3....*drools*

14/05/07

Mmm... on Saturday, I saw Spiderman 3...

I wrote a review of it here: http://uk.rottentomatoes.com/vine/journal_view.php?s=&journalid=406469&action=view&view=public#420420.

Copy and Paste THAT into your browser and smoke it.

It was alright, but the wicked acting and great scenes were held together with a VERY thin string of plot.

But hey, the evil emo Peter Parker was hotness. I'm PokeyStix and I have decided to make a blog, as you can see.

What these blog entries will usually contain is:

Ranting, ranting, and the occassional joyful word.

Yes, I'm a cynic. And cynics need a place to be cynics without people stating the obvious (i.e "You're such a cynic!" or "OMG RAVEN DID YOU JUST GET A VISION?").

Well, uh... to set the mood of blog entries to come, I have decided to end this blog with a complaint.

JohnnyUtah. The creator of Tankmen whom I admired turns out to be racist. And what's my proof? Here. His blog. His art-filled, mildly-amusing blog.

He called the black robber a negro. And said that the black people of Glenside had let down the 'fine, upstanding WHITE' citizens down again... jeez, how racist can you get? I mean, calling black people negroes and mentally separating all of them from the 'fine' white people is not okay. And yet look at all the comments, man. It's as if they're all to afraid to tell this great artist that his mentality is racist!

AND ALL FOR STEALING A PS2 AND A MEMORY CARD! C'mon. Slating racial attacks for that?

Clean yourself up, Johnny. Really.
